  • Comments Thread For: Roy Jones Set For Cruiser Title Fight, 12/12 In Moscow

Roy Jones Jr. will serve as the guest of honor in more ways than one at an upcoming press conference in Moscow.

A media session is scheduled for October 28 to officially recognize the former four-division champ as a Russian citizenship. The event will also reveal details in attempting to crown him as a future five division champ.

The opponent will also be announced on that day, as Jones (62-8, 45KOs) will contend for a vacant cruiserweight title December 12 at VTB Ice Palace, a 14,000-seat venue in Moscow. [Click Here To Read More]

Any belt Roy gets that is vacant without beating a legit mandatory for it will essentially be useless and should not count, I'm afraid.

This coming from one of his biggest fans.

I truly have enjoyed damn near all of his career, a hero while growing up(which I without a doubt am bais in a positive way with his career, and yet unlike many of the past greats I believe often still underrated. Although this will be an accomplishment, I doubt it will be against a solid opponent. Jones unlike Hopkins, never seemed to change his style with his age. Although in my eyes his prime was a top 5 all time great career but his lack of realizing his weaknesses has dramatically brought down his status of all time greats.

Personally, his prime; a top 5 all time great fighter. I hope him success but I wish him to retire directly after the win!
