A new destination brings a new challenge for rising New Zealand heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker who will face a left-handed opponent for the first time in Samoa in January.

Parker's Samoan schedule, dubbed "Rumble in Paradise" was confirmed in Apia on Thursday.

He will fight at the Faleata Sports Complex, an indoor venue with 2000 seats, on Saturday, January 23 with the bout kicking off another busy year for the 23-year-old.

I hadn't realized that he's not fought any southpaws to date. As good as his stoppage of Meehan was, Kali landed a number solid rights, and clearly thought that that was his best chance to get at Parker. Parker's right defence is open far too much, and needs a lot of work.

Team Parker have just been offered to fight on the undercard of the Alvarez vs
Cotto fight.But the bad news is they turn it down.Parker is headlining the
fight for life on 5 Dec.I just hope Duco don't keep Parker fighting here in NZ.
Parker needs to be fighting in the states.He needs the world wide exposure.
I know Duco make good money for these local fights.This could stop Parker
from making big money and get big fights.

With no opponent announced for his hamilton fight you know it's going to be a last minute crub, and nobody is going to fight him in a school p.e hall in samoa

Duco have NO interest in parkers well being all they care about is making money off him, it's not good. Duco are crooks. And parker seems like a decent guy who's just trying to do his best and thinks his promotors actually care about him

I actually big Parker fan.I am starting to wonder if Parker is better to be
managed by Golden boy Promotions.Maybe match room.
Eddie Hearn is world class promoter.Oscar Del-Hoya seems to be doing a good
