If that doesn't give Top Rank motivation to step up Gvozdyk and Mekhontsev soon, then I don't know what will.
Gvozdyk beat Shabranskyy easily in the amateurs.
I wouldn't even mind if Gvozdyk or Mekhontsev fight Gonzalez early next year, use him as a step up or something. The other should fight Sean Monaghan. Braehmer has an easy belt. Top Rank should target him if they want a belt at 175.
They're not ready for a Kovalev yet, but they are ready to step up. Mekhontsev needs to step up soon or it will be too late for him.
I didn't want to spoil these decisions to myself but I couldn't help it.
