So fighhype said 125-150k, Glazer says 97k, and rafael and iole say "just over" 150k.

I guess because it didnt crack 200k we'll never really know what the true number was. I'm more inclined to believe rafael and ioles numbers, because I figured the HBO platform and marketing strength would pretty much guarantee 200k no matter who was fighting, but that obviously is not the case, and I stand corrected.

Disappointing result. K2 will put a smiley face on the 150k number, but they have to be pretty disappointed it didnt do better.......

What is assured though is no matter what anyone has said about Glazer in the past, if they do not like GGG they will treat Glazers 97k number as gospel haha

Why are Mannix, Rafael, and Iole shilling for K2? Every article it's "Loeffler told this publication it had 150k buys" instead of relying on their own sources. They didn't even bother to get HBO to directly confirm the number.

This is why boxing needs GOAT Rick Glasser.

Rafael may not name him in his articles, but he gets his numbers straight from Mark Taffet at HBO.......

100k or 150k really doesn't change that much so no point in really arguing about it, you would expect those involved to put a brave face on it. If they were cool with the number Loeffler wouldn't really be making excuses like he does in the Rafael piece.

Everyone involved is fine though because the event didn't have enough sunk costs to be that damaging (I think I saw 1 commercial for it for example).

Obviously Loeffler is high and Glaser might be low. Who cares at this stage though? 97-150? It's arguing over 53,000 buys. Take an average and call it approximately 125.

Whenever HBO doesn't release the numbers directly, the numbers are fake.

so then I guess we wont ever here you reference the 97k number, since it didnt come from HBO?

And being that I know both Rafael and Taffet, I can assure you that if Dan quoted Taffet in the same article he mentioned 150,000 buys in, he verified those numbers with Taffet. Like Dan or not, he would not quote Taffet in an article that mentioned the number of buys, without verifying it with him

Taffet doesn't directly say 150k, but here's the important part:

"Golovkin-Lemieux met or exceeded every benchmark of success which was set going into the event," Taffet told ESPN.com. "The PPV buys solidly met expectations even amidst the Mets-Cubs national telecast registering the highest-ever TBS baseball playoff viewership, including the PPV-critical markets of New York and Chicago. This, combined with the palpable excitement of the sold-out crowd in Madison Square Garden and the in-ring performances by Gennady Golovkin and [co-feature winner Roman] 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez, encourage us that the next great era of boxing has begun and will continue with the highly-anticipated [Miguel] Cotto-Canelo [Alvarez)] megafight on Nov. 21."
Perhaps not a bust at all.
