By legions, are you referring to 1) the relatively small number of people who post on this forum regularly? Or 2) in general population?

1) If you mean 'regular posters on this forum', then yes, I'm sure you're right in some isolated cases, but I'd hardly call that 'legions'. Especially when you compare it with...
2) if you mean 'general population', then I have news for you. The average American doesn't give two ****s about boxing. The same way you don't give a **** about watching chariot racing. And the small percentage of boxing fans in society certainly don't get nearly as hard for the men in it as the small proportion of obsessives on here do.

Always good to keep things in perspective. Keeps you grounded and from using fallacious, racist reasoning, viz a viz, a hasty generalization in this case.
