    WBO light flyweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, who put on a clinical display of boxing to score a near shut-out victory against Mexican champion Juan “Pinky” Alejo at the StubHub Center in Carson City, California last Saturday, will return to the ring in Bacolod in March.

    Nietes, the longest reigning Filipino world champion will make the ninth defense of his title which he won on October 8, 2011 at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City which is near his hometown of Murcia.

    Donnie looked good in Carson, in control and weathering the punishment. A step up in comp would be nice, but Gonzalez is a big jump. Props for even thinking about it, I know he's serious.

        I hope nietes grows some balls and faces a top Latino or Japanese warrior! But he'll probably play it safe like always.
