Sorry, but Canelo, assuming he wins against Cotto, will be fighting his next fight against Golovkin or will be stripped of his title.

So if he does fight in May, it will be against Golovkin and the Lee fight will be later on and will be the one for all the marbles in the MW division giving it a reason to be on PPV. That will make two PPV for Golovkin in 2016, with the year starting with a free fight on HBO in Feb and finishing with another regular HBO fight in December or so.

This fight would be a joke and I say that as someone who loves Golovkin.

Wilder was ordered to face Povetkin after Duhaupas, but because Povetkin already has a fight scheduled the WBC may let Wilder fight someone else first. If Golovkin has a fight set up when Cotto-Canelo happens, the winner will just do the same and the WBC will allow it. They are giving the winner a chance to avoid them, and for what? This guy who got hit with about 100 power shots on saturday night vs O'Kane, Golovkin would have to carry him for it to go 3 rounds.
