Comments Thread For: Hopkins: Lemieux Can Still Bounce Back, Still Marketable

Former undisputed middleweight and light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins is very interested to see how David Lemieux (34-4, 31KOs) bounces back from Saturday's eight round TKO defeat to Gennady "GGG" Golovkin at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Hopkins, as partner in Golden Boy Promotions, is the promoter of Lemieux and guides his career with Eye of The Tiger Management.

Why not? Murray is doing quite well, for instance. There is no shame in losing to GGG. Lemeiux is still young and has a room for improvement.

Get the guy a better trainer. I know I'm a broken record, but the French guy has no backup plans. Soon as GGG started boxing they were lost. Lemieux still did well with the skill set he has currently, but geez I think Roach could get him in line, even Garcia or Hunter. Anyone but who he's with now.

Lemeiux needs to practice how to slip a jab.

No question about it, he's got a pretty decent chin, good power and is still ridiculously young. Would not be surprised if wins another belt, or at least becomes #1 contender in the next 3 years.

But yeah.. he definitely needs a better trainer. It's not even about the jab, it's about a lack of game plan and inability to adjust. They knew their only chance was to get into a slugfest or get inside, yet they still hesitated for the longest time.

Lemieux has alot of talent. Not sure if it's too late but he could do with some coaching, he was often out of position and off balance, needs to keep his boxing stance.

David needed more experience before stepped up against GGG. GGG is 33 and he is experienced. At 25, he wouldnt beat David
