I doubt the test is wrong. Could be a false positive, but that is rare.
They have collection rules, chain of custody, but it has happened.

Steve Cunningham to sue Tarver?

Cunningham says that, should any fighter ever test positive for a banned substance in a fight against him, he wouldn’t hesitate to seek legal action against them.

“Me personally, if I ever fight a guy and he gets busted for steroids, I’m putting a civil suit on him for attempted murder. Assault and battery, that’s how serious this is.”

Have there actually been cases of tests being contaminated or mixed-up?

Salido, he tested positive for Nandrolone in the commission test when he beat Robert Guerrero and he immediately had a follow up test at LabCorp, a nationally recognized blood lab. The findings were negative of any steroids. It should be noted that Nandrolone is an anabolic steroid that may be present naturally in the human body in minute quan******.

I think salido case is the closes you gonna get, you will never see a fighter get a retroactive dismissal of a failed test because if they do the drug testing party will have to admit to human error and will lose their respect.

tarver keeps testing positive because he doesnt have the big money team behind him anymore to track all of that, cycling off times, masking agents ect.

those teams cost money and when your purses are shrinking because youre a shot has been, then you cut them from the team and this happens.
