Comments Thread For: Tarver Disputes Drug Test Failure: I'm 100% Innocent

TAMPA - Five-time world champion Antonio "Magic Man" Tarver (31-6-1, 22 KOs) vehemently refutes the results of his failed New Jersey Boxing Commission drug test taken prior to his 12-round draw with two-time IBF champion Steve "USS" Cunningham this past August 14th in Newark.

A report claims Tarver tested positive for synthetic testosterone. He categorically denies taking any banned substance before his fight with Cunningham. [Click Here To Read More]

Have there actually been cases of tests being contaminated or mixed-up?

Tarver's back is to the wall now.

I don't think he's innocent, but still I feel sorry for him.

Either innocent, had trouble making weight or forgot to have an IV administered at home.

He lost his Showtime gig due to similar allegations.
Would Tarver pull this crap again after achieving a new commentating job and some higher profile in ring action? Mistakes do happen but his track record speaks loudly.

I've never heard of one. With how they do the testing it seems like it would be an extreme rarity to have it happen.

Having said that its 100% possible he never knowingly took anything illegal (not sure I'd bet on it doe lol). Basically the reason no testing agency will even test any supplement products you take for illegal substances to make sure it is okay for you to use is cuz many companies who sell products with legal ingredients also make products or have their products packaged at facilities that also package products with illegal ingredients. So if the equipment used to package the legal product isn't cleaned thoroughly after they used it for an illegal product there is a chance you could test dirty.

So they could tell you that the specific sample you got is safe or unsafe, but couldn't insure to you that it was always going to be that way as a different lot might have been corrupted. I think a bunch of older people got something not good for older people in some senior supplement a couple years back that made a lot of older people sick & they had to go to the hospital & ****.
