All that said in all those areas he is at least as good as Lemieux, so it is really about who is getting put in those situations and Golovkin is much more likely to survive something going awry than Lemieux and is more likely to get Lemieux into a bad spot.Last edited by The Gambler1981; 10-16-2015, 06:35 PM.Comment

After almost 400 fights, I think Golovkin could fight off his back foot, sideways or turning in circles if that is what is needed in a fight. I doubt that Lemieux has anything to bring that GGG has not seen many times before. And if Lemieux tries one of his haymakers from the outfield, he will be out cold before the punch makes it half way.
If Lemieux wants to last more than a few rounds, he will have to be very careful. He has never been in the ring with anyone who has close to the skills of Golovkin. If he tries those haymakers, he's done.
I don't know what it is with the so called boxing fans on this board... so few of them seem to really know anything about the sport. They seem to think that the first person to hit Golovkin hard will turn him into a scared little girl. Damn will they be shocked when he knocks Lemmy's head off.
Golovkin is a better all around fighter than Lemieux though and he has better options so he should be able to take care of business, this fight is not without risks though for Golovkin. He is the rightful big favorite for a reason, and I have seen Lemieux hurt before so I don't get why him being erased would be a huge shock to anyone~Comment

So you think Golovkin is the perfect human fighting machine? Alright if you want to view him that way, but having watched him fight professionals there are areas where he can be had and a guy like Lemieux he could be made to pay the price because that is kind of what Lemieux does.

Of course the fight is not without risks. That is why they fight the fights. You never know what might happen the ring. Just as in any other professional sport. Any fighter can win, any team can win in baseball or in hockey or in football. THAT IS WHY THEY PLAY THE GAMES.
And I do not even consider what happened to Lemieux FOUR YEARS AGO as being relevant in any way, just as I do not think what Ward did FOUR YEARS AGO is relevant today either. FOUR YEARS can be a lifetime in boxing. Do you bring up Stevenson's loss whenever he is prepping for a fight? No, you don't. So why bring up Lemieux's loss? Shit happens in this sport. It's how you handle the aftermath that matters. Lemieux has handled it very well so far.Comment

Now he has a same day weight in where he cannot top 170 and that will leave him the rest of the day to pack some pounds back on. I figure he will come in close to 180 when he hits the ring and that may end up slowing him down.
Oh well... he can share Rubio's excuse. LOLComment

If you knew how to watch a fight properly, you would see that Golovkin never fights twice the same way. He adapts his style to his opponent. That is why he has very few stoppages in the early rounds. He uses that time to learn and adapt his game plan. He will not fight Lemieux the way he fought Monroe and he did not fight Monroe the same way as he fought Stevens.

I don't really think Lemieux is going to win or is the better fighter, but that doesn't really mean Lemieux can't win the fight. Things Lemieux does well can work out well against some of the things I have seen with Golovkin. However, Lemieux got stung in the N'Dam fight which was his last fight, which keeps those questions relevant even though he did very well in that fight that doesn't auger well for this fight. His stamina does seem better though, but I don't think that will matter that much.Comment
