Comments Thread For: Luis Ortiz: Fans Will Appreciate Demolition of Vidondo

After living through a dark chapter in his career, Cuba's Luis Ortiz approaches a fight for the WBA interim world title on Saturday night with a certain conviction that a victory would be the best way to close the door on that dark cloud forever

Ortiz (22-0, 19 KO) faces Argentine Matias Vidondo (20-1-1, 18 KO) on the HBO Pay-Per-View undercard to the Gennady Golovkin vs. David Lemieux from New York's Madison Square Garden.

Another interim title from the WBA. In a world full of joke sanctioning organizations they are the biggest joke of them all.

For once I agree with you.

Too bad they couldn't find a live opponent for Ortiz. Someone like Pulev, Jennings, Ustinov, Browne, Takam or Stiverne would have been good (I realize Jennings turned it down, while Stiverne and his manager wanted it but Don King prevented it).

So the WBA has an Super, Regular & Interim champion at each division? What a joke boxing has become. Ortiz has not one good win other than a washed up Monte Barrett. He he is fighting for a top 5 ranking in the WBA against Vidondo. Theonly thing the fans will appreciate is if you stop cheating & start fighting someone with a pulse. Chagaev, Browne & Ortiz are the top 3 WBA contenders...

Jennings wanted more money but I can't blame him because Ortiz is lower ranked & Jennings is still in line for a possible title fight with Wilder in early 2016.
