  • Comments Thread For: PBC on ESPN Card Draws in Ratings Average of 428K

Judging by the ratings, it seems that a lot of fans missed out on a main event that could serve as the biggest upset of the year.

A special Wednesday edition of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on ESPN drew an average of just 428,000 viewers, with the telecast once again met with a lot of competition in the sports world. On a night where Fox Sports 1 raked in a record-high ratings thanks to its coverage of Major League Baseball playoffs, the ESPN boxing telecast was topped by journeyman Aron Martinez scoring a major upset in a 10-round decision win over Devon Alexander in Glendale, Arizona.

That's not weird. I had no idea about this card, it completely went ver my head, I was flipping through the channels and caught the middle of Selby-Montiel. I am still not used to boxing on Wednesdays.

Terrible ratings. With the exception of the Leo Santa Cruz fight all the PBC fights on ESPN have bombed. Not a good sign. And its not just ESPN. The foxsports1 card bombed too only 192,000 viewers on Tuesday. Only one card so far on the Tuesday night cards have cracked 200k viewers. All the NBC fights have drawn less viewers then the previous fight since the debut. The ratings are all trending in the wrong direction.

Another bad sign WNBA on ESPN2 at the same time slot with drasticly less promotion got better ratings. 586,000 watched that over boxing on the main ESPN channel despite sportscenter and espn shows promoting the fight all day and all week. Also when ESPN took off boxing and went directly to sportscenter the TV ratings spiked up. Ratings after boxing was 644,000 on ESPN. And as late as 2am ESPN reruns of sportscenter pulling in 593,000 viewers.

It's WNBA on ESPN2. Lol I Dont care if it's playoff game you are on the big boy ESPN you should be getting higher ratings. Otherwise why are you on ESPN? The ratings spiking up after you take boxing off your network is a bad sign.

No cause the games were over so people switch over to watch all highlights.

2 huge game 5 playoff where 1 is still talked about and a Championship game and it still did 428K.

I swear you dont know sports like you think you do.
