You meant to say Canelo will gas out late. Cotto by KO.

Word is that Cotto is a year round athlete these days since getting with Roach and McMillan. He stays in shape in between fights and doesn't balloon up in weight anymore. When he showed up to camp, he was already fit. Seeing the footage from his camp, he looks pretty energetic and fresh.

And to be fair, I also used the word unnecessary.

I will stand by that, I firmly believe that cw's are completely unnecessary.

Cotto will fight Canelo at Canelo-weight..... he did not try to drag Canelo down to 154 (which is the standard weight for a supposed JMW)..... and he did not try to drag him down to 153 (which is Cotto's last weight)..... Cotto knows that Canelo will weigh 170+, and yet he is is willing to fight a younger, stronger, bigger, man at his best weight.

He will catchweight Golovkin though, beleeeeeeeee dat

GGG fans will call that cw " abuse ", despite the fact that Cotto weighs 153.

But I stand by what I said, imo Cotto should drop the belt if he is not prepared to sack up and fight Golovkin at 160.

Catchweights are completely unnecessary, Cotto could actually fight Golovkin at 160 if he was willing to sack up, like he is willing to sack up to Canelo..... but Cotto weighs 153, he is obviously a JMW..... so if you are going to tell me that catchweights can be justified between guys who fight in different divisions you need to remember that Cotto weighs 153.

              My bottom line:
Abolish cw's forever, or accept the one that Cotto has in mind for Golovkin
I'd be cool with abolishing catchweights for championship fights. Beyond that, whatever the fighters agree to is fine with me. I agree that if Cotto and GGG both win, Cotto should fight GGG at 160 or drop the belt.

Not all catchweights are created equal.

Whitaker-Chavez at a catchweight was fine by me.

                    Same with Pacquiao-Cotto and Mayweather-Alvarez.

Some obviously are just terrible but I think you can look at each case by case.

how would you feel about catchweights in the following cases: rigondeaux-lomachenko, golovkin-ward and ward-kovalev?
