Comments Thread For: Loeffler, De La Hoya Offer Varying Takes on GGG-Lemieux

If there’s a consensus belief heading into this weekend’s middleweight title unification bout between Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux, it’s that it will be bombs away for however long it lasts.

Whatever happens after that is anybody’s guess, with boxing being the theatre of the unexpected.

The buzz has picked up as fight week continues for Saturday night’s headliner at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The middleweight clash marks tops an HBO Pay-Per-View telecast, with both fighters testing the market for the first time, fitting since it is also the first true unification bout for the main event players.

When two big punchers get in the ring i usually lay a bit down to go the distance. Odds are usually good and it is quiet common. I think this fight will be an exception though.

Stop comparing one underachieving fighter and one C+ level fighters to Hagler, Hearns and Mugabi. Either 3 would have wiped these clowns off the boxing map.

Very true. Big punchers can make one another hesitant to throw. We seen Matthysse choose a safe fight vs Provodnikov, and once Quillin/Lee tasted each other's power they both backed off. Then again like you said this should be an exception. Golovkin is a master of methodically breaking guys down and setting them up to be killed, also Lemeiux lack's the defense to survive in a shell like Murray & Stevens did. He'll be forced into action.
