Which was really ironic because that was the only times he had success (when he stood in the trenches)

Exactly. It's one of GGG's flaws. And also why Ward is all wrong for him.

I won't go as far as saying it's one of his flaws just yet (but I completely understand your point). For that fight, it was, but it could've been that he just wasn't expecting Monroe to come forward at all. I'm interested to see how GGG fights knowing that Lemieux will be coming forward.

Yup. Good post. I am a GGG fan but I am not a biased fan. I think he wins by TKO but there will be moments for David as well. This is the most dangerous opponent GGG has ever faced and he is hungry. He is very tough and very strong. I see holes in GGG's defense and so does Oscar, Cotto, and Canelo. Does it means Cotto or Canelo win? Nope. Not at all. But GGG can be beat. He is so offensive that he often gets hit with shots he shouldn't. Now the biased GGG fans will tell us that we're crazy and that it's not a concern. Smh. Like I said, I'll be watching very closely to see how GGG performs against the best fighter he's faced to date.

People still misinterpreting letting your defenses down. Monroe had nothing that Golovkin respected and he could afford to half ass his efforts.

Golovkin when he's not being a dumbass fights behind his reach.

Ward is all wrong for GGG mainly because he's too BIG for GGG! It's that simple. Ward pounds GGG and possibly stops him. There are weight classes for a reason. The fight for Ward is a move to 175lbs against Sergio!!!!

Agreed, I like GGG and am unbiased as it gets. I think Lemieux has the power to KO him, but GGG has better overall boxing ability. That will show as the fight goes on, but if GGG gets caught at any point, he could take a nap in the ring

GGG was willing to take some leather because Monroe is not a puncher. GGG will be more defensively responsible against Lemieux

CoWard, Ha. What's his game plan, lawyering up!

AS FOR CoWard, what's he doing these days. Building a new team of lawyers.

Ward is a more likely to beat GGG in a court room than knock him out. When GGG goes up to 168, and Ward doesn't turn down the fight, GGG KO him in 8.

GGG wasn't waiting around for Ward to grow the nerve to fight.

And it's quite possibly Ward waits around and fights nobodies until GGG moves up. CoWard us doing perpetual tune-ups these days.

He wields Lawyers more often than gloves.

In the time Ward does tune tune up campaign, GGG will have

Gain two of the three remaining MW belts.

Beat the pants off of Canelo.

Taken Lee out for a possible MW unification of 4 belts (done twice before)

And will be drawing fighters too him.

Heck he already has Ward's desperate azz begging him

You can see GGG literally tell him, hit me.

GGG clearly carried him -- because Monroe is a southpaw and because GGG needed some more rounds in the ring.
Golovkin can't afford to dispatch everyone in 2-3 rounds -- he has to provide some show in exchange for the money he gets from the crowd... In addition, GGG is supposed to meet better and better opponents in the future and it's expected to be able to fight in the championship rounds as well...
                    (not some rocket science though...)
You can quite literally see the point he turned it off for a second, and then decides it's time to end this.
