If Ward said "I will come down to 164 for a GGG fight" and didn't do it, then he would be backtracking. If GGG said "I will fight anyone from 154 to 168 but will go no higher than 154" he would be straight.

Regardless, this all stems from them keeping Ward's name in their mouth.

Again, Canelo made that statement 2yrs prior to their bout. Obviously come negotiation time 2yrs later he knew he could no longer make that weight.

It still goes against Floyd saying he wants to fight his opponents at their most comfortable weight and not a CW. If he wanted Canelo to be "comfortable", why ask for a CW?

I didnt put words in your mouth. That's exactly what you said.

But a real man is someone who stays true to his word. What happened when a simple, quiet man from Oakland by the name of SOG Ward called Gennady's bluff and held Gennady to his word? GGG, the "most feared man in boxing", backed the FK down.

Read on to see the irrefutable proof.

First, Golovkin tells Kellerman that he would fight ANYONE FROM 154-168, including Andre Ward specifically, in the following video.

Skip to 33:00 of the video, and watch until 33:30.

Starting at 33:00 of the interview, Max Kellerman asks Golovkin:" You said that you'd fight anyone from 154-168. Who do you have in mind?"

Golovkin: "Doesn't matter who. I'm ready!"

Max Kellerman asks him AGAIN:" Would you fight ANYONE from 154-168?"

Golovkin: "Everybody, doesn't matter who. ANYONE. OF COURSE!"

Max Kellerman:" If Andre Ward beats Chad Dawson, you'd fight him?"

Golovkin:" Yes!!!!! Why not? Andre Ward is a good man, and I beat Andre Dirrel (amateurs). I'm ready now!"

Not only does Golovkin say that he would fight anyone from 154-168, he specifically says that he will fight Andre Ward.

We know what happens next. Ward destroys Dawson, becomes p4p #2, and answers Golovkin's challenge. All of a sudden, Andre Ward becomes this big bad bully/coward who is picking on little guys, when Golovkin HIMSELF issued the challenge.

What did the great fearless warrior Golovkin do once Ward called his bluff?

He backed the fk down like a PUSSIE. "Andre Ward is too much for me".

Skip to 0:39 of this video to see him pussie out.

"No. Andre Ward is too much for me. Andre is Andre. Me is me."

There is simply no way that any rational Golovkin fan can spin this. I'm not hating on Golovkin, but facts are facts. Golovkin called out Ward, and ran when Ward responded. There is no way that any of us can blame Ward for the drama that took place next. Fact: GOLOVKIN DUCKED WARD.

Conclusion: Golovkin is not this fearless, honest warrior that everyone thinks he is. The man started out as a street bully/thug on the streets of Karagandy, beating up smaller men in front of their girlfriends and intimidating random guys on the streets. He has built a reputation in boxing by knocking out absolute BUMS. Because he speaks little English, he now pretends to be a good and respectful guy, knowing that it's the only way insecure male fans in the US will like him.

His resume is a joke compared to Ward, Canelo, Floyd, or even Cotto. His best win to date is Daniel Geale, a guy who Cotto dominated and knocked out just as quick. His ethnicity/looks and fake nice guy persona are the main reasons behind his hype.

But what happened when a real man from Oakland by the name of Andre Ward stared Goliath right in the eye? The bully backed down.

It does, however, raise the question of why Golovkin called out Ward in the first place. I'll include possible theories in the poll.

      Discuss.
Look how much effort you put into that hahahaha. Ouch.

I agree. But at the same time, Team Canelo should've kept their mouths shut and not try to negotiate through the media.

That's what both of these situations are about. Fighters and their teams saying ****** **** and trying to sound tough in front of the cameras and then getting their cards pulled.

-Distorting Facts: GGG's team said he would fight anyone from 154-168 in 2012 when he was unknown to anyone. He was B-Side to virtually everyone who has fought on TV. He would have fought ANY fighter with a name in 2012. In 2015, he's a much more popular fighter and has no reason to give in to demands from less popular fighters. Everyone in boxing does this. EVERYONE.

-Cherry Picking: In the video he posted, he says "Andre ward is too much for me, NOT TODAY". You completely left it out of the quote you posted.

-Misinterpreting information: one way to translate "too much for me" is to think that GGG is scared of him. However if you do just slightly more research, another interpretation of what he meant was that he was fed up with Ward's antics and all the bull***** that accompanied him. A month before this video, GGG gave an interview to a russian newspaper in which he says that Ward backed out of the fight when HBO offered it to them. He said that Ward needs to shut up and stop using his name. He said that in a language he's FLUENT in.
More than that, on July 3rd, 2015 GGG said that Ward has turned him down 3(!) times on HBO and is now making excuses.
Logically, do you think that something has changed between July 3rd and July 17th to make Golovkin suddenly afraid of him?

All the facts point to GGG being tired of hearing Ward's name because he knew they were trying to make that fight for half a year, and Ward lived up to his reputation of being a btch to work with and made it impossible.

You can continue to live in your fantasy world and tell yourself whatever you wish, but the actual facts and history show that:
          1) GGG has never ducked and always challenged EVERYONE better/more popular than him - Cotto, Canelo, Mayweather, Froch. Only Ward fans hang on to these mythical "he ducked Ward fantasies". If GGG challenged Mayweather, he's not gonna be afraid of a rusty inferior fighter like Ward.
          2) Ward has a HISTORY of acting like a btch and making bad business decisions. After winning the super 6 he tried to fight bums and has been inactive for almost 2 years.
          3) Ward was not willing to meet GGG in the middle on weight. He expected a 33 year old to come up 8 pounds immediately while he himself wants 3 tuneups to come up 3(!) pounds.

I'm not sure how the Ward fans started this theory, but it's an absolute disgrace that Ward was not willing to meet GGG in the middle at 164. To me, that's a btch move.
This ****** context was sorted out long ago...

This interview was taken in the fight night, just before Golovkin was to enter the ring...

It's of common knowledge that Golovkin English is so broken that he isn't capable of expressing full sentences... and when it comes to complex phrases he's completely lost...

The reporter asked him about "ducking Ward"... I repeat: just before his actual fight later that night...

          What did GGG actually say?
I quote: "Andre Ward is... too much for me... NOT TODAY"...
          ...

Now: I don't expect to find here many professional linguists and/or behaviorists...

But I should like to get some interpretations about this "NOT TODAY" within the given actantial model as speech act (a.s.o.)...

I repeat the quote: "Andre Ward is... too much for me... NOT TODAY"

(I don't look forward to hear anything from any undergraduate low-life bum...)

What you people fail to show is that Ward NEVER called his bluff. He just blew smoke. You keep repeating the same crap.

I repeat, it takes two to tango.

So he said he'd fight Ward when he was on the come up, couldn't get any fights and when Ward was actually known and cared about.... what about it?

Every Ward contract now consists of Let me have these tune-ups first. But people still think this fight could have already happened.

He said he would fight Ward while he was injured and in a legal mess with his promoter. Because he knew that Ward couldn't do anything about it.

All I remember is the media and Ward pushing team Golovkin acting like the fight could happen right away and then it comes out that Ward needed tune-ups first, and today we still act like the fight can happen right away yet Ward still needs those tune-ups.

When GGG wanted to fight A-side Mayweather, he said he would go down to 154 for him. He never asked Mayweather to come up to 160.
