i'm pretty sure that the lemieux fight is only ppv because hbo blew their budget and couldn't afford the purses otherwise. if golovkin-lee gets made next year i'm sure it will be regular hbo
lee, alvarez or cotto, ibf mandatory (probably johnson), and maybe one more... that's a good year, potentially even foty depending on who the 4th is, if there's a 4th
If he gets Cotto or Canelo that's a good year sure. Any of the other matchups at middle are mediocre at best.
Wilder is getting shat on for his recent level of opposition, and rightly so. No one is praising him for staying so active.
The same standards should apply to Golovkin.
The biggest problem with this is that Wilder has a mandatory that wants a piece of the action, GGG does'nt/has'nt. Lemeiux is the first middleweight willing to give GGG, and the fans what they deserve.
I'd rather watch GGG fight bums, than watch Ward fight nobody.

No one can fights A fighters everytime. No one does. GGG has some in his sights.
A fighters everytime? ggg doesn't even have one on his resume. Pepe LeMew is a step up but not a big step. Worse yet, he's pushing mid 30s and has no concrete plans to do so.

Come on now can't tell me you didn't enjoy Froch Ward but GGG fights are fun but he needs to step up
wilder fights bums as his first option. ggg doesn't. i dont know how thats the same exact thing. ggg has fought the best opponent who was willing to fight him for the last couple years. wilder has literally tried to fight some of the worst comp ive ever seen as his first option.
I agree with that for the most part, especially the bold.
A lot of great fighters only fought in 1 division.
I hear guys calling for fighters to move up all the time, but thats not really how boxing works. Every fighter has their best weight, and it does make a difference.
We can see that today without same-day weighins when certain guys drain themselves, sometimes they are actually a better fighter in the division above..... we can also see that with the catchweight manipulation that goes on.
But if a fighter is dominating his division, and if he is ready willing and able to fight certain guys in the division above, and if he really is great..... then why wouldnt he want to fight the best?
The problem with this is that ggg is pushing 34 and hasn't really got started yet. There simply isn't enough prime years or quality fighters at 160 to ever make ggg a great fighter. A win over Ward would have gotten him there in 1 fight.
