  • Barrera- Juarez: Why isn't there much being said about it?

With just a little more than a month before Marco faces Rocky at the Staples Center, one would have thought that embers (of threads and discussions) are already glowing on BoxingScene, if not already aflame. Why not?

Is it a symptom of the diminishing pull of MAB?

Juarez is not exactly a Fana or a Cesar Najera (the latter fought MAB in 1999 in Indio, CA. Barrera was at first declared KO4 winner, but the fight was re-classified to an "exhibition", or, officially, a "No Contest", when it was discovered that Najera was MAB's sparmate.) And, it's not as if nobody knows Rocky (some even knows him enough to hate him).

Juarez has registered wins over Zahir Raheem and Hector Velasquez as well as stopped Frankie Archuleta-- not superstars but neither are they patsies to pad his record.

    What gives?

rocky's disputed decsison over raheem was ugly, real ugly. in the loss to soto he was hesitant. i don't think he will fair well with barrera unless he comes to fight.
of course, he does have aa chin buster of a left hook as sen in the espadas fight.
i hope juarez comes to fight cause surely barrera will.
i want a war, the outcome makes no difference to me.

This should be an easy fight for Barrera, I've never been that impressed with Juarez.

Exactly, Juarez has done nothing to warrant the praise he's gotten. He lost to the last guy from Mexico and Raheem. He shouldn't be facing Barrera. This must be a confidence builder for Barrera while Juarez's team is trying to milk the cow because some feel Juarez has been exposed.

Some people on this board, or maybe many people on this board belive Barrera is too much for Rocky Juarez. Rocky Juarez is a very good fighter. He may have lost to Soto cause he got too left hook happy. But I hear he now starts off quick and ko'd both his last two opponets.

When Rocky works both the body and head, he is unstoppable. the thing with Rocky is somtimes his too relaxed in the ring. Hes one of the calmest fighters out their. But out of nowhere he strikes with his heavy left hook and a steady attack.

I expect Rocky to defeat Barrera. Check out my sig and you will see Im rooting for Rocky to defeat Barrera.

I guarentee this fight will be a war. Juarez will make it a war and come out on top.

Good, yes. But does too much thinking and is hesitant a lot.

                  Hi there keystone!

That's been the recent (past couple of years?) knock on Rocky-- one is not quite sure which Juarez shows up.

Re the Raheem controversy: I would have thought that that'll fuel speculations and rabid discussions, given what Raheem did to Morales, and, further given that mention of Morales always provokes mention of MAB and vice versa.

Hope Rocky comes to fight. If he does, t'will be good. And, that chin-buster of his (if he gets to use it) shall keep everyone guessing round after round after round....

Thats why i pointed to that he has changed his style. He is now a full presure fighters from what I hear. And starts off quick instead of fighting laid back.
