Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: I Attempted Return, Body Couldn't Take It

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya (39-6, 30KOs) had those butterflies in his stomach and attempted a comeback to the ring.

He trained, ran the miles, and even had a ten round sparring sessions. But the next morning his body fell apart and he was barely able to get out of bed.

De La Hoya, 42-years-old, retired in 2008 after getting stopped by Manny Pacquiao in eight rounds. It was his third defeat in five fights.

"Oscar's only focus is building the stars of tomorrow". That's not what he ***ing said a couple years ago! He said he wanted the best to fight the best and instead, he builds gravy trains for his prospects by not putting a single one of his prospects against another prospect or against an opponent with a 50/50 chance. People complained that Hayman was going to do this and it is OSCAR, not HAYMAN doing this!!!

Those *******-fueled ***** ass poundings bring a tremendous amount of strain & mileage to the body.

          We're praying for you, Oscar.

Glad he's got money and doesn't have to come back. Sad how many guys put themselves in the position where it's Wal-Mart or boxing.

I thought a De La Hoya vs Chavez Jr might fly...great opportunity to sell the drama of Jr trying to vindicate his father's loss...potentially a money maker.

DLH getting dominated by lightweights, we already seen that, good call to stay retired.

Drug abuse and having been retired at an older age for a few years made it impossible for him to come back. B-Hop is much older and still fighting at the elite level of his division because he doesn't use drugs and has taken care of his body thru the years.
