Comments Thread For: Wilder on Jennings: My Skill Level is Way Beyond Him!

WBC heavyweight Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34KOs) is looking forward to making a world title defense in January.

Wilder saw action three times in 2015. He captured the WBC championship with a twelve round decision over Bermane Stiverne in January. He came back in June to score a knockout victory over Eric Molina in nine rounds. Another voluntary defense was made last month when he stopped French contender Johann Duhaupas in eleven rounds.

I agree with Wilder, Jennings is nothing special in my eyes. He's good, but not great.

Jennings will still give Wilder possibly the hardest fight he's ever had.

Why is Wilder avoiding Povetkin? Is it possibly because he is being overpaid to fight French club fighters as well as other second tier fighters?

No it isn't. He punches harder and is wilder on the offence, that's it. Jennings has far better footwork, more compact punches that don't see him falling over his own ass, and a solid defence that not even Wlad could penetrate.

Wilder's skill level is incredibly low for such a top tier fighter. He gets by on speed, enthusiasm and crazy punching power. That's it.

I agree with the first half that Jennings is a waiter... but skill wise.... nope.

Well, Wilder shouldn't have a problem fighting Jennings then.

footwork is not one distinct teaching..when u are 6'7 u're footwork will not be taught the same as a 5'8 guy..wilder is 6'7 and athletic one step and he's halfway across the ring..he has drown a line and when he punches he doenst cross it..his footwork is his reach tbh...and he's doing that darn well..

jennings footwork has proved to be wasted movement that wears him out in the mid or late rounds of the fight..

wlad doesnt have punch varation..if there is anything wilder showed in the last fight is that he'll now mix his punches up better and take power off some to place them better..i wasnt sold on wilder, but i cant hate all my life..

he has smartened up and jennings is not an easy fight but he is surely wilders next win..if he gets in the ring with him...jennings might find that wilder beats him up on the inside unlike klit was willing to do..jennings isnt a master of any craft..he's a worker..

i saw more skill out of wilder in his last fight than jennings has ever shown me..
klit holding is an excuse..u break holds with footwork instead he conceded that his feet were not good, active, or educated enough to do so..no excuses..he doesn tnot place his pnches or set them up one bit...

last fight at 2 differnt times i saw wilder trying a counter right...that is his next step...at the rate i see him learning now that he can actually go rounds..i think he'll have that right hand timed on ppl in the next 2 fights and when his punches start being the ones u dont see coming...IT IS NIGHT NIGHT !

                  Wilder would flatten Jennings.
