Nonstop boxing forum has been dogged down FOREVER with fanboy drama trying to get one over on each other.
To draw attention and discussion away from that ****. I had an idea to start play back boxing fights on a nightly basis. Every night we can vote on a fight we want to watch. The most votes will choose the fight being picked of course. Display the full fight on a thread and everyone simultaneously watch it or rewatch it. Discussion would begin when the fight starts (9:00 or 10:00 eastern) and everyone can comment round by round.
For starters we could watch Khan vs Maidana, Chavez Sr vs Camacho, Duran vs Leonard, Trinidad vs Vargas, Cooney vs Holmes, Tyson vs Buster, Morales vs Barrera, RJ vs Toney....the list goes on.
This idea almost being a blast from the past with everyone partaking in a collective analysis. Sure we've all seen most of these fights. And in a lot cases more than once. But nobody has seen EVERY fight. This kind of thing could educate those looking to get into boxing with reading others input and analysis. There is also a huge divide between generations on here over boxing history that varies between age groups. I'll be honest when I got into boxing a few years back as a freshman in college, I watched thousands of fights on youtube. I gained a huge cerebral understanding of boxing and what it represents. From there I came across this forum and learned a lot on here, shaping my perspective of the boxing world. Not everyone is persistent as I was yearning to learn everything about boxing. But there is plenty of casuals and curious fans who are interested but never have their eyes opened to others keen perspective of boxing.
This forum is bogged down with bickering and illogical bull****. I actually have to not log on for periods and go back and watch fights on my own time. Why? Because right now this forum literally drops my boxing IQ if I'm reading on here for too long. This sort of thing could congregate users and help everyone socialize a little more civilly.
I'm a major part of the problem on here, but the same goes for the rest of the active posters too. There's no reason we can't debate and argue on here, but a landscape to offer in-depth boxing knowledge would benefit this whole place. We don't have fights on every night. There fore the rest of this forum is nonstop gossip, which it rightly should be. But it shouldn't be this prevalent with nothing positive. The foremost authority on boxing discussion which is boxingscene forums should have a little more to offer those interested enough to make an account and partake in discussion. We talk about our sport fizzling into oblivion and do nothing to promote boxing education for potential fans. This is a sure fire way to establish consistent, unbiased, discussion on fights throughout boxing history. Unlike any other sport, boxing's history represents a cohesive understanding to our collective consciousness of the boxing world. I'll even green k those who post throughout the fights duration. We could even do a fun fight tonight like Broner vs Maidana, everyone gets a kick out of it, but it was actually a great fight.
