    ike "bazooka" quartey appreciation thread

IMO this guy would run 147 in today's age....can't pick your era....sadly near his prime he took two L's to hall of fame calibre guys after long lay offs @ or near prime

Wish he didn't retire for 5 years....stayed active could've made a bigger mark

I enjoyed him but won't lie and say I was a fan. He was so inactive.

Underrated champion! His left hand would reek havoc if he were fighting today.

Quartey was a fun fighter to watch, no doubt. Random casual NSB trolls who DKSAB don't know about gems like him.

Loved his fights with Vargas and de la Hoya. And I still think he beat the late great Vernon Forrest rather easy.

Didn't see much of him live but his reputation always preceded. I have seen his biggest fights and he was a quality operator no doubt. It's why, whenever I mention Oscar's best wins, Quartey is always up there. You don't beat a guy like that without being damn good yourself. I wish we could be talking about a Quartey/Oscar 2 but I guess Vargas killed a lot of his momentum.
