The World Boxing Council have confirmed that unbeaten junior welterweight contender Amir Imam (18-0, 15KOs) is the next fighter in line for a mandatory shot at newly crowned WBC junior welterweight champion Viktor Postol (28-0, 12 KO).

This past Saturday night Postol registered an unexpected tenth round knockout of big favorite, Lucas Matthysse, at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

so postol doesn't get to make a voluntary defense first? how come?

Let Postol get a defense in 1st. I'd say his balls are big for real if he takes on Imam right now. The winner is easily king of the hill.

Right, he should call Deontay Wilder for some advice on that

Damn, imam is the truth. Postol might get worked with counters all night.

Could be the step asides Postol took from Danny while he had the strap. Think postol took 2 to let the salka and Peterson fight go on. Oddly the WBC can't do much when their mandatory is allowing the champ to fight someone other than him. Much like BJS and Andy Lee. It's kind similar the IBF and Alexander when Brook was the mandatory. Injuries kept Brook aside and the belt changed hands twice and Porter took a voluntary while Brook was working himself back. When Brook won the belt he had to fight the mandatory in the very next fight.

I would guess that it's the WBC and its mandatories all backlogged from Garcia's lack of defences.

Imam is like 5"10 and has a longer reach than Postol an hits hard, it will be a tough fight.

Will Victor Postol be allowed two voluntary defenses like Deontay Wilder was, or are there special privileges given to certain boxers?
