matthysse has a knockout win over peterson, and should have a win over devon alexander. he was in a very close fight when judah still had something left in the tank.

a win over provodnikov, who went life and death with bradley, isn't too bad either, though rusland is a bit overstated.

he was absolutely a world class boxer. you don't know the definition of "world class" if you think a guy who was competitve with the lineal champion of the world [danny garcia when they fought on the floyd - canelo undercard] isn't world class.

lucas was limited. he's always been limited. his two handed power and style were absolutely enouhg to get him to the "world class" level.

I've picked fights wrong a MILLION times ... And will continue to do so. It's just the nature if the beast. Sometimes you can still be right even though you picked wrong. One thing I have NEVER done ... And if you have then you need to reevaluate your supposed knowledge of the sport is... Look at a guy like Mathysse and think he is P4P,the second coming,Julian Jackson incarnate, because he scored a few KO's of hung tough with guys like Judah! .... NEVER... There were so many question marks and obvious holes in Lucas game that if you really though he was cut from the same cloth as GGG ... You were/are clueless at to what you are watching when you watch a fight. PERIOD

They made excuses for every single loss and even after getting KO'd, they are still making excuses.

But fan boys shouldn't be a reason to degrade a fighters accomplishments. He obliterated Lamont Peterson in 3 rounds who has been a top 5 fighter in the division for years. Matthysse is clearly a world class fighter. B/B- Level but still world class.
Isn't B- fighter/World class both being used to describe the same guy an oxymoron? Andre Berto (IMO) is a B- guy (and he's won a belt) and Timothy Bradley is World Class. If both Lucas and Bradley are both World Class then what would May/PAC be? "Universe Class"?

bradley's fight with peterson was much closer than matthysse's.

so was his fight with ruslan. ruslan came damn close to ending tim bradley's career. there's an interview with miguel diaz where he talks about tim getting beat up in training camp for the marquez fight, and looking like he should stop boxing. eventually tim turned it around, and they went on with the fight. evidently his memory was fading, and he wasn't able to string together good rounds in sparring and in the gym. that's straight up head trauma right there.

i do think bradley is the better fighter in both ability and resume, and i'd have picked him to beat matthysse, but that doesn't mean matthysse isn't a world class fighter.

you've been told that your definition of "world class boxer" is wrong. just learn and move on.

He deserved to at least have won a world title. He was good enough to do that and he did clearly beat Devon Alexander, knocked out Peterson and beat Judah and Provodnikov. Those are decent wins.

He wasn't as good as the online hype pre-Garcia suggested though

How many people RIGHT NOW could just as easily have both Peterson and Ruslan under their belt? Is that the standard for being World Class? What separates Lucas from say Bradley,Garcia even Khan and Maidana? A guy who has NEVER won a single fight when it mattered most. To be able to call himself Champion without having to use the words interim,Latin America, regional etc... First. Lucas has never been able to do that...in my opinion a "World Class" fighter is one who rises to the occasion sometimes even steps his game up to another level that we hadn't previously seen... As much **** as Garcia takes on this board we've seen him do it time and time again in big fights, same for Bradley, while we've only seen Lucas keep it close, hang tough, lose under weird circumstances or completely crumble like he did Saturday. To me that isn't World Class... If it makes you feel any better I believe he's as close as one can get to being "World Class" without actually being "World Class" and the best fighter to NEVER win a WORLD title.

Matthysse was and still is a word class fighter. Geez, people get so ahead of themselves. When 2 good fighters fight each other, one of them loses.
