Just because you're not a perpetual#1 doesn't mean you have something "wrong" with you.
He lost this fight because he let Victor get off first, dictate distance and movement, etc. Being mean isn't always enough to win against a smart, disciplined boxer.
Nonsense if that was the case he would have quit against Molina.
Matthysse is a very good fighter. He just lost to a better fight.
That was definitely a war, but he was very much in that fight throughout and had the upper hand in most of the exchanges. But against Garcia and Postol, it seems like mental frustration got the better of him due to his inability to get into a rhythm + absorbing clean shots. In the rounds prior to the knockout, it seemed like he stopped trying like in the Garcia fight, and once he was dropped, he called it a day.
He scored a brutal KO in his last fight and overall is noticeably more powerful since training with Freddie Roach, who's obviously been working on his offense. Nothing fishy.
It was a solid punch but honestly, it looked like Matthysse could continue!
its disgusting seeing how quick boxing fans turn on fighters..matthysse went from killer to overrated in one night
anyway, this doesn't necessarily kill the pacquiao fight since manny likes guys coming off losses or subpar performances. .
That's boxingscene for yea. Let's ignore the body of work Matthysse has put in his career and just label him overrated because he lost to a superior fight.
Well i was 1-1 on my picks tonight. I smelled upsets tonight. Soto, Postal. I dont feel so bad on that Soto, it was a good fight. As for Matthysse that was just too much length and i didnt like that gameplan: get inside, go to the body finish upstairs..reset. too simple. He needed a combination of combinations; get inside, body, pivot or turn, another combination and turn him again, jab, reset. Hes orthodox with exceptional power. As for Postal hes orthodox as well who uses his range well and he knows the gameplan is to get inside on him and he was prepared for that. Nicely done.
