If it didn't ruin boxing in like 1910 it's not ruining it now. Some fights are ugly tactically and some aren't. Boxing is fine.

It literally was everytime. Atleast until the midway point. The fight changed big time after some hard warnings from the ref and Postol actively trying to prevent himself from clinching, became a much better fight. Clinching really needs to be abolished, the clinching on this fight already went a little too long before the hard warning.Comment

Difference in the old eras people would fight their way out of it, it could be a bit rough and tumble but I would expect that when guys are fighting such long and brutal rounds its acceptable back in the long round days and 15 rounds because those guys fought a ferocious pace imo.Comment

Smothering isn't clinching. Sometimes he would smother a.D because Lucas can't fight inside he gave up. He can only operate midrangeIt literally was everytime. Atleast until the midway point. He would clinch an arm and hide his head away, everytime, everytime, in those first couple of rounds. Not smothering. It's a legal clinch and the ref rightfully let Matthysse wail away. But Postol getting rabbit punched was his own doing.Comment

You could argue the people who have to clinch and get the ref to separate it up can't fight an inside game, what would be required is some wrestling practice for people using those tactics to combat it.Comment

But the wasn't the case with Postol. After the warnings he was winning the inside battle. He was much stronger and landed uppercuts.Comment

Shame Matthysee walked straight into Postol all the time, putting his head in Postols stomach or chest. Where was his inside game? Apparently no one knows how to deal with the clinch or have a back up plan.
Pretty sure Postal beat Matthysee in all categories except wild punches thrown and missed.Comment
