I forgot who said it (may have been Foreman) but it was pertaining to this topic. This person said something along the lines of..."everyone's a champ nowaday's. You walk into any gym and say "hey champ" and half the gym turns around!"
So Matthysse doesn't care if he goes his whole career without winning a title? He has no motivation to win this title tonight?

Caring about winning a title and the actual value of the title are 2 different things. In this day and age with 20+ titles across 4 weight classes, you would have to really suck to not win a title at one point or another. Carlos Baldomir was the lineal WW champ at one point for christ sakes!

So titles do mean something to the fighters, correct?

Are you guys serious? How can you downplay multiple championships on various divisions?

It doesn't matter what class or divisions, being a champion in a hurt business is a huge accomplishment by any measure.

And that Baldo example is terrible. Judah was undisputed champion. He beat Spinks who beat Mayorga who beat Forest who beat Mosley x2.

There was nothing paper about that. Baldo earned the right to be called a champion. Unlike some fighters you Stan for.

You must've actually boxed or competed in sports. Because winning a championship at any level takes a ton of hard work, sacrafice and commitment

To some. Some prefer $ over alphabet straps.

Not really, but I do MMA for fun and the hardwork all of the guys put in the gym ain't no joke and none of these guys are even pros. I can only imagine the dedication and hardwork these pros do. A lot keyboard warriors are quick to diss these people's hard work and accomplishments, and we all have a pretty good idea why is that...

I'm no Broner fan by any stretch, but that interview made me respect him more. I'm glad to see him serious and committed. I'm glad to see that he takes his loses to heart. I think he made his point pretty well, and that guy was out of line.
