Absolutely nothing in my mind tells me Calzaghe would ever duck Carl Froch.
Froch turned down a fight with Calzaghe.

I actually just mentioned that in an edited post the same time you replied.
But it's true, look at the facts. Nobody knew Carl Froch enough to make it a big fight. He would have been considered just another opponent because he hadn't earned any form of reputation yet, simple as that. Froch's prime and fame came after Calzaghe.
It might have been a good fight and Carl was still good but the absolute fact is that up until then he had only fought Domestic level. Nothing that came after that can change that fact.

He had fought Robin Reid at the time and you can't tell me domestically no one knew who Reid was ..Matter of fact look at some of the guys Joe defended his belt against ..Being the number 1 mandatory may not be the most r cognizable to casuals but to die hard fans I'm sure they knew who Froch was and he made a big enough stink about getting a crack at Joe is all I'm saying .I know Calzaghe offered him the fight but do you know exactly when ? Was it around this time or after ?Comment

froch woulnd't put a glove on our joe.
he'd hit nothing but air all night, and get slapped so freqnentyly that rachel cordingly would finish the fight rooting of our joe.Comment

Warren's offer included options so it would have been before Froch became mandatory.Found this article which was published in 08

By the time Froch became mandatory, Calzaghe had moved onto bigger fights.Comment

As someone pointed earlier. Someone posted a thread about this possible fight around that time and it got 5 replies. That's all you need to know.Found this article which was published in 08

What I meant that he could have been his Tarver I meant the way he went about chasing him.And could have upset him like Tarver did with Roy that's all ..Comment

There was no way to really time Joe as he had very acute reflexes and an extremely high work rate with just about unlimited stamina.
To me Kessler was elite and even beat Froch the first meeting when it mattered most.Comment
