Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr: I'll Be Back in The Gym in Two Months

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32KOs) expects to be back in the gym in two months time. The Mexican star injured his left hand in his July ten round decision victory over Marcos Reyes. It was his first fight with new trainer Robert Garcia.

The injury was more serious than previously thought and Chavez had to undergo an operation on August 21, where there were screws inserted in his hand. He had a second procedure on Thursday, when the screws were removed.

I bet he's ****ing fat right about now and is only going to fatter as he rests that hand. He doesn't have the discipline to stay in shape in between fights how much more now that he has an excuse to not workout.

I know Chavez Jr. has a sketchy history but he has that "it" factor. For some reason I'm always interested in how he's progressing, good or bad.

True. Even when Jr. can't train at the gym yet, it would be in his on benefit to keep excercising to avoid gaining a lot of weight and to build stamina (running 5-10 miles a day would be excellent). But I guess, the hand injury is a perfect excuse to stay away of any physical activity.
