Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32KOs) expects to be back in the gym in two months time. The Mexican star injured his left hand in his July ten round decision victory over Marcos Reyes. It was his first fight with new trainer Robert Garcia.
The injury was more serious than previously thought and Chavez had to undergo an operation on August 21, where there were screws inserted in his hand. He had a second procedure on Thursday, when the screws were removed.
