Comments Thread For: Humberto Soto Open To facing Matthysse-Postol Winner

35-year-old Humberto Soto (65-8-2) is fully focused on his upcoming HBO televised bout against Antonio Orozco (22-0) that takes place at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. The fight serves as the chief support underneath the Lucas Matthysse-Viktor Postol main event.

A win over Orozco would likely lead Soto to an even bigger fight in the future. Soto has faced Matthysse before and even though he was stopped, Matthysse gave the Mexican credit and said that he was one of the hardest punchers he has faced.

He is talking out of azz. If he and Lucas win he won't fight him. He will quit again if they meet

When Matthyse beat this guy, the beating was so harsh that I really felt sorry for Soto. It's one of the very few fights in my life where I literally don't enjoy watching boxing so much because one of the fighters (in this case Soto) is getting punched so hard that one can't even describe the emotions of seeing a human being beating another one so incredibly badly.

What I mean is that, other than the money he may get from such a re-match, Soto has no business facing Mathysse again. He could end up in the hospital, badly injured and likely spend all the money he gets in surgery, medicine and treatment for his injuries.

What I'd really like to watch is a rematch of Garcia-Mathysse, because if the latter learned his lesson and can avoid at least half of the left hooks that closed his eye from the beginning of the fight (which is the real reason why he lost, he couldn't see most of the fight on that side, so Garcia, even though he punches way less hard than Lucas himself, was in the end able to destroy him and even knock him down). But before that eye issue happened, Mathysse was really throwing some harsh punches that seemed to be bound to knock Garcia down or out any moment.
