Comments Thread For: McCrory, Moore, Smith Disagree With Froch on Golovkin

A few days ago, fans were up in arms after Carl Froch took a swipe at middleweight destroyer Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.

The two of them were in heavy discussions to face each other earlier this year, but Froch became uninterested in the fight and announced his retirement from boxing.

Froch appointed Andre Ward as the man to take over the top pound-for-pound spot that was left open when Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced his retirement on September 12th.

Crazy how they ignored the achievements and resume of the fighters and instead went off the eye test and how exciting a fighter is. Kovalev is arguably a better puncher than GGG but with a clear edge in opposition faced and defeated. Yet he doesn't get the same recognition just because he doesn't capture the imagination. Froch telling it how it is.

True is somewhere in-between. Froch had his opportunity but he knew GGG very likely gives him a beating.

but we can't know how good Gennady really is until he fights the very best. David is a great test.

I think Kovalev is a even better fighter than Golovkin. You also have to place him higher in the p4p list because he has beaten Hopkins and Pascal.
Ward is not the p4p no.1 because he hasnt fought anybody in years.
He has to fight Kovalev and the winner of that fight is the new p4p 1.
The next p4p 1 will be the winner of Cotto and Canelo though.

P4P is hypothetical subject which isn't really worth discussing. The little guy's such as Gonzalez, Cuadras, Inoue, Rigondeaux, Yamanaka, Walters, Miura & Uchiyama Are ignored far too much!

Frock is simply speaking waffle.....froch and golovkin were in negotiations to fight for a big blockbuster in Wembley ...then he went and retired...guess what now he saying golovkin is not in the top 10 p4p....I don't have problem if golovkin is not even in the top 5.....but he warrants top 10 for sure......and its froch arrogant attitude is the only reason he is saying this.....how can he rate Andre ward as p4p number 1 when he has had no serious competition for nearly 3 years....it's because ward beat him....p4p relates to current activity and ward has been inactive most part of those 3 years......as for kovalev....you go speak with sergey to see what he thinks of golovkin......he is in awe of triple GGG and he has seen first hand how good golovkin is...for me golovkin is the most feared man in boxing and warrants to be on that ridiculous p4p list
