Does it annoy anyone else that this guy has a perfect build to fight the Mexican style, is Mexican, but instead fights as a slick counter puncher?

He doesn't fight like a slick counter puncher. Just a (sometimes) over-confident cutesy boxer-puncher. He likes to show off with his upper body movement because his legs are like molasses.

He favors a lot of defense from rolling with the punches, bending at the waist, and glove/arm defense. I don't think he enjoys getting punched but loves punching, if that makes sense. Canelo will give you a war if you give him one though.

Yeah thats fair, slick counter puncher was a bit much

I just think with his short stocky build, slow feet, decent head movement, good power and good combination punching, this guy was made to fight in a traditional mexican style.

I enjoy his style as it is. He's not the type to want to take a punch as long as he lands his own. I like the way he throws really crisp combinations and mixes it up to the head and body. His bad feet and lack of commanding jab are his main issues and are why I think Cotto will beat him. He probably needs a new coaching team if he wants to be the type of guy that will rule a division.

                Cotto beats Canelo

Edit: Canelo is looking in good shape though.

Beating Cotto will be an ok win, but Cotto isn't the best MW, so it tells us very little about who the Red Head really is.
Last time I checked trout lara angulo kirkland are not considered small they are all around the same weight class. Think before writing.

I'm fine with the idea that after he beats Cotto, Alvarez takes a couple fights at the full 160 before Golovkin, preferably vs top 10 MW's.

Right now most assume that Golovkin walks through Alvarez, but if Canelo were to take apart of couple of decent MW's it would give him alot more credibility going into the GGG fight.
