    Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua

    Compare their careers so far.

    Neither had many amateur fights.

Joshua is four years younger. He's been a pro less than half the time of Wilder, and has had fewer than half as many pro fights.

Yet to me, Joshua looks far more advanced than Wilder - I think he's already a better heavyweight.

Am I wrong? Who do you think will have the better professional career?

I firmly believe that when Wilder fights another top opponent we will see that he is a few levels above Joshua right now. He seems to be coasting against these guys hes been fighting but vs Stiverne we saw another level to his game. He still had flaws, but for the most part he got the basics right and completely dominated the fight.

Who will have the better career? No idea. Probably Joshua. Very difficult to tell with only one decent opponent between them.

Hopefully both turn out great and we can have a rivalry for the ages. Chuck in Parker and Fury for good measure. Could be fun

Wilder is far above Joshua at the moment. Wilder's resume, although not the best, is far better than Joshua who has beaten no one. In the future Joshua may or may not surpass him, but im not sold on Joshua yet.

Wilder has at least beaten Bermane Stiverne in a 12 rounder. Joshua hasn't even gone past the 3rd round.

Hard to predict. Let's hope they both progress and make a big fight down the road.

Yeah agree with this. I think Wilder is more advanced currently and that the amount of development that has been done behind the scenes is overlooked - it allows him to have fought basically no prime fighters and then come in against Stiverne and show he can be full of surprises. The difference in levels is seen in the jab and the patience. I don't even look at the power, I assume both can get sparked out as its HW, so even though Wilder feels like a trainwreck, he does settle into fights now. He's going rounds , he's taking punches, we're learning about his gas tank, seeing different kinds of offense. His defensive IQ maybe isn't top of the game, but his overall reflexes are very good.

having said that, the gap will close quick though. It won't be long before the public starts to envision this matchup.

Who knows how it will turn out but man if both having staying power, we'd be in for some hyped up fights. Joshua has a huge amount of support. I remember he fought on an undercard to a Ricky Burns fight I think it was and the Scottish crowd was already cheering him like he was the Champ in the main event. It was only his 5th fight, that was pretty crazy I thought

Will come down to what fights get made, tbh.

Wilder has fought Stiverne, Molina, and Duhaupas, with a mandatory defense due against Povetkin early next year and a fight with Klitschko not that far away (Klitschko fight Fury, and then 'Czar' Glazkov, before being free of owed fights). Wilder likely has a volutary defense before fighting Wlad [limited to WBC top 15 for challengers].

If Wilder gets by Klitschko (which I believe he does), he faces a stage where Anthony Joshua is the only challenger likely to be a threat to him. Wilder would be unified/undisputed champion, at least 7-8 defenses into his run before possibly facing Joshua.

In the meantime, Anthony Joshua would need to have his own fights. What fights would they be? Who knows. I doubt that Povetkin goes to the UK to fight, and I doubt that Klitschko fights on much, were he to lose in a big way to Wilder. David Haye would always make for a big fight (not sure if he's coming back to the sport), though I doubt that Fury sticks with the sport if the Klitschko results turns ugly.

With Wilder clearing out the last real consensus top names, Joshua would have to build his own rep on pure ability.

                  I'm certain Joshua is better.

                  It seems obvious to me.

I voted Wilder, solely because you said compare their careers so far, Wilder has done more than Joshua so he gets my vote. I do think Joshua has loads of potential though and will challenge for a world title in a year or so, physically he has all the tools and if he stays focused and maintains his current mentality then I think he will go far, it will be interesting to see how he copes with a decent world level fighter and also how well he can take a punch, because he hasn't truly been tested yet.
