    July 13, 2010:

Once the deadline runs out, Pacquiao will have two choices on the table. The first choice is WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, who Pacquiao knocked out for the WBO welterweight title last November. The second choice is Antonio Margarito. The Mexican former champion is still without a license to box in the United States, but he is ranked in the number 1 position within the WBC's ratings at 154-pounds.

If Pacquiao decides on Margarito, Arum says the fight would take place at junior middleweight with the vacant WBC title at stake. The title was vacated by Sergio Martinez, who elected to keep the WBC's middleweight that he won from Kelly Pavlik in April. The number 2 ranked fighter at 154 is Saul Alvarez, the WBC's silver champion at the weight. Alvarez plans to move back down to welterweight and already has a fight scheduled for Septemebr 18 in Los Angeles. Pacquiao is not currently ranked at 154, although he would likely be ranked in the top 5 is he elects to move up in weight.

"Sergio Martinez had that title and he vacated that WBC crown to keep the WBC middleweight title. So Margarito and Manny Pacquiao would be fighting for that title," Arum said.

Don't we give props to Manny for beating Margarito for a vacant title @ 154, even though the catch-weight was 150? We still call him "8 time..." don't we?
how is any of that relevant?

Broner is fighting for a vacant title, Manny fought for a vacant title. If Broner wins, it's legit, just like when Manny won, it's legit. If Broner wins, he be 4 time world champion, just like Manny is an 8 time world champion. We can't dismiss the accomplishment (if Broner wins) just because we might not like Broner.

This better not be some gimmick and that he is actually focusing on the task.

He's not talking to the press because of the nervous breakdown he suffered, which is being covered up admirably by his handlers. It's undoubtedly spiraled out of control by the sudden personal realisation/revelation that he's extremely average at the fatter weight (gained from comfort eating to cope with his manic depression).

Now team Broner are just looking for a single payday, cash out, retirement fight.

Poor guy. He's even ****ter outside of the ring than he is inside.

True, but it's also universally recognized that titles are watered down these days. I could care less how many belts someone has. Casuals would think otherwise. Back in the day winning a belt in three divisions meant something. But now that there's 50 belts in each division, it doesn't really hold much value anymore.

Broner has the problem of needing to lose muscle mass. He has a little marbling but his arms are out of proportion, wieght lifting? Just maling 140 is a big deal now. His stomach is talking to him regular, that's a lot of effort wasted if he blows it.

Broner has never been a champion imo. Not a former champ, current champ, if he wins Saturday boxing purist still will not consider him champion of anything.
