Comments Thread For: Viloria: ‘Chocolatito’ Hasn’t Faced Foe as Strong as Me

Brian Viloria has been very impressed while studying footage of Roman Gonzalez’s fights.

The former two-division champion is sure, though, that he is the best opponent the unbeaten Gonzalez has agreed to fight in his 10-year pro career. The 34-year-old Viloria (36-4, 22 KOs, 2 NC), a 2000 American Olympian from Waipahu, Hawaii, and Nicaragua’s Gonzalez (43-0, 37 KOs) are scheduled to fight for Gonzalez’s WBC flyweight title Oct. 17, on the Gennady Golovkin-David Lemieux undercard at Madison Square Garden (HBO Pay-Per-View; 9 p.m. ET; $59.95 in HD).

seeing how he's defeated two guys you lost to, I'd say he surely has faced a foe as strong as you

In terms of punching explosiveness, Viloria is right. That's the intrigue here. He's the best combination of one shot power and skill set Roman has seen. Doesn't make him his best overall foe, but it's a different challenge.

I find that very funny coming from Viloria. If you look at 2 of Vilorias losses he lost to Juan Estrada whom Gonzalez outboxed and Edgar Sosa whom Gonzalez destroyed in 2 rounds. Although styles do make fights you never know what may happen. Viloria is very talented with great amateur credentials. Let's see which version of him shows up at fight time. Hopefully not the one that TKO'd by journeyman Carlos Tamara.

Chocolatito is a good champion but I'm for the Viloria in this one.
