What Fighter Fought the Highest Quality of Opposition?

Oscar De La Hoya comes to mind as he nearly fought a name every single fight. Kostya Tszyu was another who every name on his ledger is nearly recognizable. Joe Frazier also had very few "soft touch" fights. Mayweather has lots of names as well. This is not about beating all the names, but who fought them all while also not mentioning journeymen and gatekeepers who lost to all of them. I am speaking of guys who when you look at their records, a boxing fan would nearly all of the names on their list. Obviously Lomachenko had done great so far, but it is very early.

Lomachenko shouldn't even share text space with Oscar and Mayweather lol and Kostya doesn't have anywhere near a truly great resume.

Staying on the Oscar theme, he fought pretty much every relevant name in boxing from the 90s and early 00s. Pacquiao fought and beat almost every relevant name in teh 21st century from fw to ww.

Hopkins needs to be up there, he has faced the top 4 most relevant 175 pounders in the last 10 years and beaten two of them, all while aged 40+. He also managed to have names like Wright, Tito, Oscar, Joe and Jones on his resume.

Stretching a bit further back, Duran fought and just about every relevant name from 1980 to 1995 in boxing. If he had it his way, he probably would have faced Oscar, Tito and Jones too lol

Haha. Duran would have definitely faced all of those along with Nigel Benn who he sparred and made look like an amateur. Roberto had his share of easy fights in certain places in his career, but he definitely gets an A+++++ for quality.

What puzzles me is that in all of his close decision losses, not one of them ever gave him the benefit of the doubt and he never got a draw either. Ridiculous.

I would go with Hagler. He defended his title very often and always against the top contenders. He beat some of them so bad he made them look like bums but they were very good fighters. I thought he beat Leonard. Leonard refused to rematch him. Hagler was pure dynamite in rematches. He always beat the guy worse in the rematch than he did the first time. When Leonard refused to rematch him he retired in disgust.
