Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder Unloads Kitchen To Stop Game Duhaupas

Legacy Arena, Birmingham, Alabama - Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34KOs) had to unload the kitchen to stop a very game Johann Duhaupas (32-3, 20KOs) in the eleventh round to retain the WBC world championship. Wilder will now have to face mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin, who returns on November 4th against Mariusz Wach.

The challenger came out pressing forward with the earmuffs on, applying a lot of pressure and Wilder was moving while working his jab. Duhaupas was cut on his nose from some of Wilder's big jabs. In the second, some swelling began to appear around the left eye of Wilder. During the third, Wilder really let his hands go and unloaded a lot of shots on Duhaupas, who took them well and kept coming.

      Povetkin might kill Wilder.

The heavyweight division badly needs wilder but the way he pulls straight back he looks like a devastating knock out waiting to happen.

Duhuapas is one tough SOB, and Wilder's stamina is ridiculous. He bombed on that guy damn near the entire night. He desperatately needs better defense though. He's way too easy to hit, but his chin isn't too shabby if tonight is any indication.

Pure domination, a savage beating, finally an exciting HW champ. Duhapaus has never been stopped before.

Wilder is a warrior, he lets opponents hit him (just like ggg)

Easily the most athletic performance by a HW champ in years

It was one of the one-sided fights that was also entertaining.
