Chris Eubank: Gennady Golovkin would get destroyed by my son!

    From Pundit Arena:

British boxing legend Chris Eubank has never been one to shy away from bold statements, but his claim that his son would beat undefeated middleweight masochist Gennady Golovkin is a real doozy.

Of course, Chris Eubank being Chris Eubank, his claim wasn’t just that his son would simply beat the Kazakh. In an interview with the Daily Star, the former middleweight, super-middleweight and cruiserweight title-holder put it in far more definitive terms.

“I think Jr destroys him. I just do. He destroys him in my view”

The former fighter explained his opinion by stating that the hard-hitting Golovkin was “slow” and “easy to hit”. He also compared the situation to his own prior to his first fight with bitter rival Nigel Benn.

“Look at how it mirrors my situation with Nigel Benn back in 1990. Everyone was saying you ‘can’t do that’. Some can’t see it, but I can see it.”

The elder Eubank added, that he would be steering Jr in the direction of the Golovkin fight.

Eubank’s audacious claims come in the wake of the announcement that his son has signed with Matchroom Boxing. It was also confirmed that David Haye’s former trainer Adam Booth would be joining the 26-year-old fighter’s coaching staff.

The talented Eubank Jr is scheduled to debut under his new promotional umbrella on October 24th, as part of the Kell Brook vs Diego Chaves card. An opponent is yet to be announced.

Well right now Golovkin wrecks him.

I understand what Eubank is saying. Golovkin has shown he can be hit by people with good skills. Eubank Jr is very fast and seems to have decent power. If Eubank now with Hearn as his promoter can get some good fights and good wins then maybe it could be an interesting fight down the line but that's basically because Golovkin isn't actually a spring chicken anyway and might only have 2 or 3 years left at the level he is now. So if thats the case, if one is declining and one on the rise then it could be interesting.

As it stands, Golovkin would flatten young Chris.

If he can't beat Saunders, he certainly isn't beating GGG. He should probably think about trying to get past fighters like Saunders before anything.

I do think he can become a very good fighter though absolutely.

      Boxings about levels.
First rematch BJS........Eubanks has the POTENTIAL to beat BJS. Then if he can beat BJS, then maybe he could beat Groves. Groves is in the habit of losing now that's why Eubanks might beat him. Then maybe GGG would give Eubanks a chance to make a name for himself. Because at the moment apart from being famous for being the son of Chris, Eubanks Jnr is only famous for losing to BJS.

But other than that id like to see him fight Nicky Blackwell soon.

If anything, I guess this shows that Golovkin is now a big enough name that dudes are chasing a fight with him.

But yeah, Eubanks' fatherly bullshít aside, I don't see Jr making it through 6. However, this may be a fight we see next year.

Eubank has been talking about Golovkin for a long time now, this is nothing at all new. Like everyone else they know that GGG is who everyone is following right now and mentioning his name in any way is certain to get yourself in the media.
