Who are the legends in boxing and what did they do?

Who do you think are the legends in boxing? What, in your opinion, did you think they did that made them legendary?

All the famous old people are legends, the guys from the early 1900s through the 80s and 90s. The guys who were unique, who fought better than anybody else, the champions and two-time, three-time champions. Also the guys who smiled and made it look easy, guys with breathtaking movement (Sugar Ray Robinson.)

Also the guys who transcended the sport (e.g, Jack Johnson, Joe Louis, Muhammed Ali)

And the guys who raised hell, liked to fight (e.g, Dempsey, Marciano, Duran, Tyson)

And all the great american heavyweights, whose accomplishments now appear well beyond our reach.

The heroes (e.g., Sugar Ray Leonard, along with so many others)

The true warriors of the ring who provided us with performances we can never forget- Jack Dempsey for his awesome style and great action, Julio Cesar Chavez for his great ring skills and bone-crunching punches that could wear any opponent down, Joe Louis for his excellent punches and never say die attitude, Rocky Marciano for bashing his way through tough opponents and impossible circumstances, Roberto Duran for his masterful execution of offense and defense that took the lightweight division by storm as well as all his great performances in higher weight classes past his prime.

I could name so many others but they were the guys who brought it to the ring every single time and in the end, would fight anybody out there, drew huge crowds and fans from all over to see them, chant their name and remind us all why we watch this sport.

Roy jones jr for pioneering his own style and beating ATG's and hall of famers with speed and athleticism and boxing iq

Henry armstrong for being a little guy with a big heart and undeniable style and drive moving through weight classes

Salvador sanchez for being much like duran and sugar ray robinson in that he had such a great blend of offense and defense and toughness mixed with great skill

Willie pep for tremendous speed and defense with quick hands and great tactics and fundamentals at such a early time without youtube .

Carlos Baldomir was the lineal welterweight champion, greatest of his era.

Arturo Gatti was once ranked as number one at LWW and that's an achievement no one can ever duplicate.

Victor Ortiz was once the most feared welterweight on the planet, he destroyed the ATG Andre Berto.

Speaking of Andre Berto, he's a two time world champion dontcha know?

If you're in the top 100 you are legendary because you stood out among the best of your era and your accomplishments stand the test of time.

Hero's of their era for sure.

Dempsey and Gene ducked black fighters though. I read Gene wouldn't even spar with blacks. No hero's of mine.
