Comments Thread For: Underdog Duhaupas ‘Ready To Deliver KO” Against Wilder

Eric Molina wobbled Deontay Wilder with a left hook in the third round of their WBC heavyweight title fight June 13.

Wilder recovered and dropped Molina (23-3, 17 KOs) four times on his way to a ninth-round knockout, but Molina’s moment of success isn’t lost on Johann Duhaupas (32-2, 20 KOs), who’ll challenge Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) on Saturday night in at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Ala. (NBC; 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT).

So looks like the not knocked out part will be mentioned a lot before and after the fight, no matter what happens

Well that's what your being paid to do. I'm assuming he means he's there to get KOd, right.

Duhaupas is pretty ordinary and I think Wilder will take care of him pretty handily, but a couple things Duhaupas does actually do well from what I've seen is punch in combinations, as well as go to the body. The body work may be effective against a long and slender guy like Wilder, provided he can get close enough. As for the combo punching, I could see him possibly landing a big overhand right followed up with a left hook that might put Wilder on queer street.

Not very likely, but certainly possible. It is Wilder we are talking about, afterall.

Yes, I think a lot of people, who haven't actually seen Duhaupas fight, are discounting this guy's chance of making it a fight, and maybe winning.

Duhaupas is a decent boxer; and has a certain degree of toughness. I'm hoping this guy rises to the occasion and makes a good fight out it ala Eric Molina.

Its a rubbish title defense but this guy looks a bit better than Wilders usual opponents. I'm not making a case for him to win he just looks to me a bit more than usual Wilder canon fodder which don't last 2 rounds.
I think he takes Wilder rounds at least.

If this guy does it, I don't even know what I'll do. Make it a national holiday maybe.

lol really? Seen two fights of his on youtube and i didn't see anything that made me think he belongs in a world title fight.

I think people are discounting him because he's isn't very good and it's a complete mismatch.

If he troubles Wilder then i think you should wonder how good Wilder actually is.

Duhuapas is a tough scrappy fighter who take a good punch or two. I'm not touting him like he's top 15 heavyweight, I just think he's not just gonna lay down like many of Wilder's opponents. Duhuapas has decent size, decent technique and a good chin. Maybe this guy rises to the occasion and makes it a much more difficult fight for Wilder than anticipated.

                    Well I hope you're right.

I quite enjoyed the Molina fight as I was expecting an early finish but Molina managed to rock Wilder and make it interesting for a while, so maybe this guy can do the same.
