  • Wilder's resume, seen in a fair light

Let's take a fair and objective look at Wilder's resume. It is certainly not great at all, but to be honest, it's not exactly horrible. I consider his resume to be on par with Golovkin's. Let's take a look at his top 3 wins.

    1 - Bermane Stiverne:
Stiverne was the hardhitting WBC champion who had only 1 loss, a freak accident against journeyman Demetrice King. Besides that, Stiverne had taken the zero of Kertson Manswell (20 wins, 15 KOs) and had twice defeated Chris Arreola, who had beat guys like Seth Mitchell and Tomasz Adamek (got robbed, though). This was a respectable win and only haters would deny that. This is a better win than any win on Golovkin's record.

    2 - Malik Scott:
He got robbed against Vyacheslav Glazkov. He was winning against Chisora until the referee controversially decided to stop it. He beat Alex Leapai. Technically, Malik is now a guy with a 38-1-0 record who has proven to be an okay boxer, even though he is not great at all. Not bad for Wilder to crush him in 1 round. This is a win on par with the ones Golovkin has been getting for years.

    3 - Kelvin Price:
Price was undefeated in 13 fights and had taken Tor Hamer's zero. That, and Kelvin is very big. Not bad for Wilder to crush him in 3 rounds. In no way a special win, but it's kinda okay.

When Wilder beats Johan Duhaupass, who has just defeated Manuel Charr, he will have gotten yet another win in the same league as the typical Golovkin win.

    LOL.

Stiverne was a nice win, but otherwise Wilder's resume is garbage. Scott was as obvious a dive as you'll ever see and that's his second best win.

Golovkin's resume is like Mayweather's compared to Wilder.

The only guys on Golovkin's record worth mentioning is Geale and Murray. Geale, who lost to welterweight Cotto, and Murray, whose best win was getting robbed against an old handicapped Martinez. Golovkin's resume is not better than Wilder's, let's be fair.

Imagine if Wilder goes and beats Povetkin after the Duhaupas win. His resume will be:

        1 - Povetkin
        2 - Stiverne
        3 - Scott
        4 - Duhaupas
        5 - Price

Yes, that's actually the only distance between Wilder and a good resume.

What an idiotic post. Golovkin and Wilder have both defeated the same number of world champs, 2. Stiverne was a current champ and a top 3 heavyweight. Liakhovich was shot. Geale was past his best. Ouma was shot.

          Golovkin is a coward.

I'm a huge Wilder fan but take away the Stiverne win and the rest are garbage (including his next fight). I'm really hoping his next opponent is Wlad, Fury, or Povetkin. If not it's gonna be hard to remain a fan

Deontay Wilder is the greatest American HW of all-time. Who cares about resume? Just look at that beautiful body frame and flawless technique

Dude. You hit the nail on the head!

When I spoke to Gennady last July I asked him :

Would you rather be in the ring fighting professionals while making exceptional money or would you rather spend your days on the Internet thrashing pugilists in the most xenophobic way?

He chose the former of the two options. Pshhhh. Can you believe that?

Guy is definitely a coward. So right dude. Glad we're here to point that out

I hope to see Wilder fight Povetkin, then Klitschko, then Joshua. Those would really ****e up his resume a lot, if he were to win. I think he will lose to Joshua, though, and maybe to Klitschko (which we will never find out if is true, because I'm betting my horse on Klitschko never getting any desire to take this fight, too risky when stone fists connects with glass jaws).

Its a horrible division that is barely building up steam again.

Just look at Wlad last couple of opponents.
