  • Comments Thread For: Fighting Words: Mayweather Out A Winner, With a Whimper

by David P. Greisman - The numbers have long mattered to Floyd Mayweather Jr., or rather a couple of specific numbers were those to which he paid the most attention, particularly when it meant he could bring attention to how much he got paid.

He loved to brag about his record-setting earnings from pay-per-view and box office blockbusters, posting photos of his checks on social media with as much glee as a lottery winner holding an oversized cardboard mockup of their grand prize. But while their pleasure was born from luck, his profits justified his self-stylized status symbol as a luxuriously living hedonistic high-roller.

The betting slips he often put online only buttressed that belief. He could bet more than most earn in a year and win back even more to add to his bank account, or perhaps his satchel famously full of cash, before turning that money into even more shoes or clothes or ***elry or cars or anything and everything a rich man ever could desire.

And all of that was the product of something guarded as intensely as the moneybag — his undefeated record. It wasn’t even the number in front that meant the most to him. Rather, it was the zero at the end, a nothing that meant all. To Mayweather, the fact that no one had beaten him meant no one was better, not now and not ever. [Click Here To Read More]

I was really surprised Floyd didn't try and take Berto apart. His last fight and the guy was super easy to hit, super predictable exactly the guy to make Floyd look good. His fans should know by now that Floyd cares nothing about entertainment, even in an easy fight like that he didn't venture out of his comfort zone or attempt to do anything that would have left an exclamation mark on his career.

He actually tried a couple times even in the 12th. If Floyd is going to get a knock out it has to be a accumulated amount of punches it's not going to be just one it's been like that even in the early part of his career.

Plus at this stage in his career if you notice every time goes offensive he has to back off to take an breather or go to the ropes and let his opponent punch and miss Floyd is real sneaky at hiding fatigue.he can't sustain an constant attack.

He injured his hand in the 9th round. He said he wanted the KO but couldn't get it because of the pain in his hand. The man is 38 after all. Most boxers at that age aren't knocking anybody out.

the truth is, despite that IV thing, mayweather ran like a ***** against a one-handed midget-of-a-pacman.

A very simple view point! Many great fighters never had PPV chances back in the day! But Floyd made his money!
He achieved what I guess he wanted to achieve!

he dont have the mindset to do that more imo...money got to him..throw 5 more punches isnt worth the pain in the hands or risk of getting hit in his opinion..he doesnt have to care abotu his fans..they care about him..thats all that matters..he doesnt pay them..they pay him at all cost..he's always said if u dont wanna watch dont...he did it his way
