  • golovkin's team and looking more and more responsible for this fight not happening.

it's a bad style for him in his first fight at 168. he's not going to win. i don't blame his people for not taking the fight.

I would prefer that Golovkin sack-up first, especailly considering that Team Golovkin seem to be riding on Wards coat-tails a bit..... but whoever, Golovkin or Kovalev it doesn't matter.

Both have been mentioned, and Duva confirmed that Kova is in the works.

that always gets me. ward has no "fans" in the sense that you see the childish behavior of fans on bscene. people who are genuine fans of the sport, without biases, admire what andre ward does.

ward fans are boxing fans. the best fight in boxing is kovalev vs ward at 175 lbs.

that's the fight that every ward fan wants. i want to see what this kid can do. i've got a lot of respect for kovalev. i don't think he can beat andre ward, but i can't wait to see him try. that's the best fight in boxing.

Just admit that Golovkin is not this " avoided killer " that his team have painted, and that he is OBVIOUSLY subject to the exact same risk/reward decisions as every other fighter.

Then we can all enjoy him for what he is.

It changes nothing..... you can still support him, he will still be a beast, and he will still be the best middleweight on the planet..... and he will still be cute
Lmao at that last sentence !!!

          • "We have been talking to Andre Ward's people all week,” she [duva] said. “And I think we all agree the fight is going to happen. It is just a matter of when. The talks have been very amicable. They are deciding who they want to fight next, and we have Sergey's schedule for his next few fights planned. By the end of next year, maybe a little sooner, you’re going to get to see that fight.

“We’re very happy about that because Sergey has made it clear that he wants to fight the very best out there. You’re talking about a fight between two guys who are both in the top five pound-for-pound in the world. The best fighting the best is what people want to see. That’s the kind of fight that gets everybody excited, the kind of fight that gets our blood moving. So we’re really hoping to be able to complete that deal within the foreseeable future.”

Roc Nation is also interested in making the fight eventually.

“We had some very preliminary conversations,” said David Itskowitch, who heads Roc Nation Sports’ boxing division. “We’re interested in that fight at some point. It’s only a matter of when.”

this is from ESPN. mid july of this year.

And neither do I, that would not be a smart move.

But if Team Golovkin cant keep it real, their boy is fair game.

When you talk-the-talk, sooner or later people want you to walk-the-walk.

              they said anyone from 154-168
              they wanted Froch/Chavez at 168
they publicly stated that Golovkin would KO Ward
they publicly stated that Ward would run
they publicly stated that Ward was avoiding Golovkin
they haveu sed numerous excuses to avoid that fight, the CW being the worst, but the most recent being the money

For a team who say they want that fight, they sure have made it difficult to make if not impossible.

Their boy is more than fair game ^^

Yea I got no problem at all with that fight. Ward is a true test, I wanna see how Kovalev stacks up.

Ward was always going to move to 175 eventually, and Kovalev is obviously top of the list, or close.

So they talked in the summer, yet the fight is nowhere in sight. Ward isn't even sure he wants to take the 3 fight HBO deal cause they want him to start with Yunieski, which is apparently more than he bargained for

I dont know why you assume that I wouldn't want that fight ?

I actually am a Ward fan.

You think I'm just a troll or something ?

I have been following Ward since he turned pro.

Honestly, Ward will be the betting favorite in that fight, and he will most likely win. You do know that right.

I think I see whats up.

OK, a slight change of subject.
                    \
                    Two things.....

                    1) Kovalevs vaunted power will not be a significant factor in that fight
                    2) Kovalev will NOT walk through Wards punches, Andre will have more than enough to keep Kovalev honest

BOTH of those statements are mistakes that everyone made when evaluating Pacquiao/Mayweather, lets learn from that.

That fight WILL be a boxing match, and Kovalev will need to bring his very best game to prevent that fight from running away from him.

Yep, its great to hear they got some meaningful dialogue happening.

According to Duva, Kovalevs immediate future is scheduled, but things sound real promising..... and it appears that they will work to make it happen should things evolve a little sooner.

                      But in the meantime.....
