Comments Thread For: Wilder: Floyd Mayweather Went Out, Now It's My Time!

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33KOs) wasn’t shy about throwing his hat into the ring on the topic of supplanting Floyd Mayweather Jr. as the sport’s next superstar since Mayweather stated Saturday’s fight will be his last.

Mayweather announced his retirement following his lopsided twelve round decision victory over Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

If wilder had beaten STivernne and Povetkin and had a wlad fight looming right now a lot of US fans would be behind him and rooting for him, especially with the situation with his daughter.

Instead, he followed Stivernne up with bums for money grabs and fans and missed a chance to take over the space left by Floyd.

This guy is so delusional, when Floyd was 36-0 he was not fighting nobodies. So far Wilder is just a PAPER champ. He should really grow some balls and fight atleast someone in the top 15! everyone calls Stiverne a bum, but in his first defence he fought Wilder who had been installed as the no.1 contender.

Until Wilder beats Povetkin I don't believe anything he says. It will say alot about him if he comes out victorious in that bout.

He'll beat Povetkin without too much trouble. Povetkin is a relatively small guy with short arms and sorta plodding. He'll be punching Wilder's elbows and forearms all fight while Wilder punches his face off..

If a heavyweight is gonna be the new face of boxing it will be Anthony Joshua.
I say Joshua beats Wilder right now. And Povetkin beats Wilder too.
