RIP. Really sucks. Hate hearing this type of thing. The old saying goes it comes in 3's. Hopefully it's wrong this time.

Im no doctor but ive noticed a trend with the deaths and injuries of light weighing boxers.. could these guys be killing themselves to make weight and be suffering these injuries while severely dehydrated? fighters need to make sure they make weight in the healthiest possible ways.

You have a point. The last several deaths directly from boxing injuries spanning 3 years has been from the lghter weights. Maybe it's time to use bigger gloves down there. From 8oz to 10oz. That I know of, only one big injury has happened in the heavier weights which was Magomed vs Perez, fortunately was not a death.

Well put. Additionally, all sanctioning bodies need to agree on pre fight weights to protect fighters. Mancini after beating do look kim over 15 rounds caused the adoption of 12 round fights. Nigel Ben did some serious damage with just punching power.
