How hard is Ward really trying to make this fight? He sent the offer after Lemieux/Golovkin was announced? He made it at 50/50 when Golovkin is the one who has to give up a weight advantage? When Hopkins wanted Dela Hoya & Trinidad he took whatever terms he could get and offered to come in at 157lbs. Same with Hagler for Leonard. If a bigger man really wants a smaller man to move up so bad, he'll do what it takes.
Little G is now on the same level as Trinidad, Oscar and Leonard

And it's fights at 168 he can take, little g fans wants him to move up fight Krusher knowing he already said he won't drop back down in weight once he makes 175 jump, they avoid that fight like the plague but had no problems with little g chasing froch and Chavez fights at 168 but soon wards named mention its unifying mw division, **** up until froch announced his retirement little g and his team was still trying get that fight made, but you guys bring out glasses and turn in finicial officers and such instead of wanting to see best fights

the simple fact is that more people would like to see golovkin-alvarez and/or golovkin-cotto than golovkin-ward. why would golovkin leave his natural division for a fight that fewer people would watch?

and anyway does ward even deserve 50% of the purse right now? golovkin has more fans and he would be the one taking the risk by moving up

i still dont get why ggg fans wouldnt want to see this and yes we all want to see ward kovalev but why cant we have both? i just dont honestly get it. ward asked for so long just not to talk about him if u dont want the fight thats all he asked but abel just kept bringing him up none stop.

Also ggg been trying to get a mayweather fight for years im sorry i love watching ggg fight but im so tired of this new formula pretend everyone is scared then if anyone is favored to win pretend the fight makes no sense.

And im sorry but a ggg ward fight is basically the fight for number 1 p4p period. there is no better fight in boxing right now none not a single one. yes canelo ggg would be fun but its not a better fight. please stop giving ggg a pass on this fans cause i can promise u ward is going to fight kovalev its just a shame we cant have both fights instead this he said she said crap. i guess k2 is so worried about ward beating ggg and ending his image that the fight is impossible
I agree with everything except the fight would be for #1P4P. Kovalev is in that weight range. If Ward wins, I think he would need to see Kovalev to cement the #1 spot. If GGG wins it becomes a lil trickier. I don't feel he would be obligated to fight Kovalev to secure the top spot. But I also don't feel one great win, combined with an otherwise mediocre resume is enough to warrent unquestioned P4P supremacy. I would view GGG similar to Rigondeaux. The Donaire win established him ad an unquestioned elite. But, he's gonna have to do more to lock down the top P4P spot.

resume means nothing in negotiations. fighters get paid according to how much money they earn for their promoters. at the moment, ward earns negative figures

Again those was terms loeffler stated 50/50 roc nation would be putting up wards money and fight will do way better numbers on ppv then whatever ggg-Lemieux does so talking about negative figures is irrelevant especially when little g been fighting fighters with no kind of fan base what so ever, if after nov 21st canelo-cotto fight is close and warrants rematch, they drop belt and does it at 154 then what for triple g, unifying an already weak division that was hoping for the big names of cotto or Alvarez or actually starting to challenge himself and start campaigning at 168

I'm a big fan of GGG, but you can't have a team run their mouths about Ward night and day and then get pissed off when he barks back finally.

Judging alone gave Froch an MD loss to Ward and I thought that was totally one-sided. I expect Golovkin to be far more competive given his better accuracy and balance. Golovkin routinely practices grappling techniques, routinely spars with larger & stronger fighters, his regular work with Sullivan Barrera avoiding a tough style, his gold medal defeat to Gaydarbekov was similar to how you'd expect Ward to fight Golovkin - lots of hit & hold from a bigger man going for a points victory. Golovkin strikes me as someone who learns from his experiences and adapts thus the wrestling training as a pro. A win over Ward instantly validates Golovkin's hype.

Golovkin is at the point where he can finally seal up the MW division by getting all the belts and maybe having his mega fight with Alvarez next year - same thing Hopkins and Hagler both waited for in Trinidad & Hearns.

Ward announced in March he was having tune-ups, fought Smith same night Lemieux/N'Dam, K2 made it clear Lemieux was their top priority, and Ward puts up an offer at the time that fight was either done or basically done. And 50/50 is BS. Even if Golovkin didn't have the Lemieux, Lee, Alvarez fights on the immediate horizon, even if Ward was selling tickets and getting the same kind of tv numbers as Golovkin - Golovkin is the guy who has to move up and concede a weight advantage. All things being equal (which they're not), common sense should tell you the guy moving up should get compensated more. If Ward's really trying to make this fight happen I would expect him to make an offer that would be hard for Golovkin to refuse.
Signed on to say I agree with this 1000%. It's funny how Ward starts talking about how he offered to accept the 50/50 offer after the Golovkin Lemieux has already been made. It's boxing politics; Ward's just trying to get his name out there again and he's using GGG's hype. I don't think either fighter is ready for that fight anyway. GGG doesn't want to move up that much to take that big of a risk when he's trying to secure the mw division, Ward doesn't want to move down and take that kind of risk when he's trying to rebuild his name. There just isn't a good middle ground at the moment for either fighter. I think Ward/Kovalev is the most likely scenario and will happen first.
