Comments Thread For: Eubank Jr. Eyes Replacing Mayweather, Beating Golovkin

Chris Eubank Jr believes he can replace Floyd Mayweather as the world's No 1 fighter and has set his sights on another pound-for-pound star Gennady Golovkin.

The 25-year-old middleweight has been inspired by training sessions with Mayweather, who announced his retirement last weekend after taking his tally to 49-0 with a points win over Andre Berto.

Eubank Jr has climbed the rankings after stopping Dmitry Chudinov to claim the interim WBA title in February, but has set his sights higher than simply conquering his own weight division.

He needs to get by Billy Joe Saunders caliber guys first. Then lets consider GGG. Notice I said consider.

Although business-wise its smart to start mentioning GGG's name. If GGG can start the run towards become a PPV star with his next fight the upside to fighting GGG will be much better than it has been so Eubank thinking towards his bank account increasing is very Mayweather-like.

Eubank talking big when he knows Haymon won't let it happen.

BJS just said Eubank's been receiving a number of offers from various MW's and turning them down. We might see a soft road ahead for Jr.

Jr needs to rematch BJS and then start fighting some of the better names at MW. The Chudinov win was good but the guy has been invisible since.
