  • Where in the world is Andre Ward?

There was another 168lb world title match at the weekend.

Ward was nowhere to be seen.

    Stripped by The Ring Magazine.

Hasn't defended his WBA title in over 2 years (why has he not been stripped?)

Last fight was against fat, podgy old paul smith.

They tried to get Zac Dunn for the Cotto undercard but were laughed at, now they are looking at periban who's another James Degale leftover but it looks like it's fallen through, so we are likely to not see Ward until the new year on an oakland card.

168 isn't even the same landscape as when Ward was active, all his peers have retired.

This guy has to be one of the biggest wastes of talent.

Look at the rankings from the last time Ward was active!

    Andre Ward
    Lucian Bute -175
    Mikkel Kessler -Retired
    Carl Froch -Retired
    Robert Stieglitz -non entity
    Sakio Bika -non entity
    Thomas Oosthuizen -175
    George Groves -non entity
    Glen Johnson - retired
Arthur Abraham -#1 in the division, long live the king!!!! LOL

Crying about fans not giving him respect for cherrypicking fights with overweight scouse DJ's.

I hoped for a much quicker turn around after his layoff and sparring session against Paul Smith.

If he's staying at 168 (which he said he is) he needs to start making some moves. The other guys are all getting stuck in and there are some good fights for him in the division.

If he's waiting for GGG then its a very risky move because he has at least two more fights at 160 to deal with (Lemieux and Cotto vs Canelo winner) maybe more.

he was at the mayweather fight, fighthype interviewed him he said hes been given options to fight on the cotto vs canelo undercard or his own date. i personally think he should take the undercard as that will get him great exposure

He's working on his movie career, saw him in the new Creed trailer.

Either fight at 168 or 175. Seems as if nowadays if the fans and media pushes for fighters to fight perceived threats, then you're labeled as a critic/hater. I dont get it.

Not only was Ward at the Mayweather fight, he was in the back hanging out with all the Haymon guys. It sound like Watson set up the FightHype interview.

One listener on the TNR said HBO wanted Ward to fight Yunieski Gonzalez on the Cotto/Alvarez undercard. Steve Kim said HBO is trying to get Ward to commit to a contract and they'll pay him some for the Canelo/Cotto fight, otherwise RN eats another $2mill loss. That might be the road HBO is looking at with Ward, not paying his full guarantee but a lesser amount.

Didn't he say he'd fight 3 times this year? That doesn't seem possible now.

He should look for Kovalev, DeGale or Abraham. Neither has an opponent lined up.

Ward seems to be taking too conservative an approach regarding his career. This is boxing. A combat sport. You want big paydays then you need to make yourself relevant. Go out and fight. Make some noise and draw attention to yourself. Not in Floyd-esque way but instead with your fists. Take the short money to land you the bigger paydays. Nobody is going to throw millions upon millions at Ward for fighting nobody's. He should have taken the opportunity to jump on the Cotto/Canelo undercard. Would have been great exposure for him and a chance to make some noise.
