Comments Thread For: Browne's Death Reignites Cries For a Aussie Boxing Ban

Australia's peak medical authority has called for a ban on boxing after a local fighter died in hospital on Tuesday, four days after being knocked out in a regional title bout.

David Browne Jr. was floored by a punch from Filipino Carlo Magali in a super featherweight bout in Sydney on Friday.

The 28-year-old father of two initially regained consciousness but later collapsed and was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Australians have seen a lot of Racing related deaths over the years, I hope they have a motion to ban that also. The sport of boxing is always the biggest target.

        Gross

Thoughts go out to the family

As far as banning boxing, I think it should be regulated way better than it actually is

It's full of in incompetent staff who haven't got a clue

        Mismatches shouldn't be allowed

Its full contact sport that people know the dangers before they get in there sht happens in all sports its part of life and being free , the do-gooders should stop trying to protect everybody from everything , its our own personal choices as men they should butt out and fck off .

Why didn't the Aussies want to ban cricket after Phillip Hughes was killed by a bouncer?

Is it because it's their national sport? Completely hypocritical, boxers know the risk when they get in the ring.
